Our Crowdfunding Project
We are located in the countryside of Tambasasayama, Japan, growing and learning together since 2016. As our school has developed and our students have matured, we realized the need to expand from our home location to include a separate space for creation and study, and for the students to really call their own. We were fortunate enough to receive a 100 year old farmhouse in our village from a generous neighbor. While the house is still in good condition, it is in need of renovation in order to transform it into a multi-functional learning space. We are currently working together with the children on the design, and so far we have plans to put in:
-an arts and crafts workshop and pottery studio
-a dormitory space
-a tea ceremony room
-a quiet library space for reading and study
-a central gathering space with a cosy woodstove for meetings and socializing
-sleepover area where families can stay and try out Mamenoki
-a community space where locals can stop by and interact
We are currently doing a crowdfunding project to raise money for this renovation project. The money we raise will be spent on:
-200,000 yen (about $1,500) for demolition and disposal of the house interior
-500,000 yen (about $3,700) for building materials and appliances
-500,000 yen (about $3,700) to pay our carpenters and architect
-135,000 yen (about $1,000) to cover our crowdfunding fee
-100,000 yen (about $750) to cover the cost of our crowdfunding returns
-65,000 yen (about $480) to pay for publicity and advertising of the project
We hope to do a lot of the work ourselves, to make the most of our funds. Whatever isn't spent on renovation will be spent on improving the learning environment of the children. We hope you will consider donating to help us meet our our goal, and every little bit helps.
The crowdfunding site doesn't allow donations from outside of Japan, so we have created a paypal account to accept donations.
